AVAYA SURPLUS TIMELINES (Summary) 

DAY 1 – DAY 30 “VOLUNTARY” PERIOD 

·       Surplus is announced to all Impacted employees. 

·       Employees receive Communications Package from their supervisor. Avaya Career Transition Option Plan (ACTOP) Overviews should be presented at this time. 

·       “Voluntary” window opens - employees may elect one (!) of the four ACTOP options   

                    1. - Special Leave Program (SLP), or
                    2. – Optional Termination Pay (OTP), or
                    3. - Extended Compensation Option (ECO), and/or                                        4. - Transition Leave of Absence (TLA) 

·       “At Risk” employees receive surplus indicator for Avaya Transfer Program (ATP) priority placement. “Vulnerable” employees should be notified of the possibility of their job being claimed (Bumped). 

·       DAY 30 “Voluntary” window closes. Management determines number of occupational employees leaving through ACTOP and ATP. 

·       New “At Risk” numbers are announced. 

DAY 31-59 “INVOLUNTARY” PERIOD 

·       “At Risk” employees with at least 5 years of service are canvassed for exercising Job claiming (Bumping). 

·       Job claiming (bumping) starts on Day 45- rebalancing of force is accomplished once the process is completed. 

·       “Vulnerable” employees that have been “bumped” receive surplus indicator for priority placement in ATP and are now “At Risk”. 

DAY 60 “RESOLUTION” DATE 

·       “At Risk” employee(s), still in surplus universe, last day on the payroll. Off payroll Paperwork processed.

Currently, (2004) Please read Article 24 (page 51) and then AVAYA CAREER TRANSITION OPTION PROGRAM (ACTOP) on page 402 of the Working Agreement between AVAYA and COMMUNICATIONS WORKERS OF AMERICA.
